Mitchell Webcam is one of the few North Carolina
Mountain Webcams offering a pull panoramic view of the
Blue Ridge Mountains. Mount
Mitchell is the known as the highest peak within the
Appalachian Mountain Range. It is also the highest
mountain in Eastern North America, with the exception of
the island summits. Until Texas joined the Union in
1845, Mount Mitchell NC was the highest peak within any
state of the United States. The closest mountain with a
higher peak East of the great Rocky Mountains would be
Harney Peak, which is located in the Black Hills of
South Dakota. Mount Mitchell is located close to
Burnsville NC in Yancey County North Carolina and
Bakersville NC in Mitchell County North Carolina. Mount
Mitchell is in the Black Mountain sub-range of the
Appalachian Mountains and is roughly 32 miles (or 51 km)
Northeast of
Asheville NC.
The mountain is completely protected by the Pisgah
National Forest and Mount Mitchell State Park. Make sure
