Spruce Pine Fishing on the North Toe River
The
clear waters of the North Toe River flow through
the adorable mountain town of
Spruce Pine NC,
creating some really fantastic places to go Trout Fishing in Western North Carolina. Flowing from northeast Tennessee, in the town of Erwin, the Toe River is one of the region’s most beautiful rivers.
The Toe River flows through some of the most remote locations across Mitchell County. In Spruce Pine and Newland, a two-mile section of the Toe River has been named a Mountain Heritage Trout Water.
This area has its own daily reel limits, minimum size limits, and lure restrictions
designated by the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission. Also, keep in mind when fishing that the North Toe River is a catch and release river with delayed harvest regulations. The NC Trout Fishing Season starts in October and ends in June. If you fish during this time you’ll notice healthy fish populations as the pools of the North Toe are well stocked.
